With thanks

Posted November 25th, 2011 02:50 by DeathBoy

A small (and insufficient), but heart-felt thanks to Glen Cahalin.

When I had problems with my mics (more than once) – things that are *expensive* but that you *need* to be able to write music where you want to pour your heart and mind into the words of a song, he popped up, took a little time out to visit me and dropped me off some fantastic mics.

I can’t do what I do without some basic tools and money’s been too tight to mention lately. I wouldn’t have been able to do what I do without your generosity and kindness.

Thank you, man :)

Long Time No See

Hey, peoples.

A big update, as I’ve been remiss and haven’t posted here in a while. It’s been a busy bunch of months, so please forgive the absence.

Here’s the first bundle of tracks I’ve been working on since the last update. Hold tight, there’s quite a few.

Starting off with the relatively DubStep-style ‘New Morning’. Big basslines and comedy vocal samples ;)

Next up, Isolation Room A – written while I was laid up in hospital for a week (named after my room :P)

I hammered this out on my iPad while I had a couple of canulas in my arms and was having a hilarious time in and out of consciousness until the antibiotics sorted me out. Uploaded it from my hospital bed. Yaknow. Because I could.

It’s very much an oldschool raver track, ‘hands in the air’ style, complete with airhorns and crowd cheers :)

This track features on the forthcoming ‘Bitscapes’ release – more on that soon.

The next one is called ‘Consequence’.  Darker stuff with a generous helping of misanthropy.

The original vocal sketch for this song (quite different from the finished industrial piece) can be found [here]

… aaaand that’s enough newness for one day. I’ll be back very soon with the rest. Stay tuned.

NanoStudio Competition

Posted December 14th, 2010 11:47 by DeathBoy

Hallo, people!

We’ve got a new electronic track, featuring samples from the wonderful Sohma G Dawling (of Beautiful Skies fame), called The First of March, which I’ve entered into a competition.

I don’t normally spam this sorta thing, but it’d really kick arse to win this. I need upwards of 100 votes to be in the running.

You only have to click on the link, then ‘VOTE’ – that’s it! No fuss, no sign up!

VOTE HERE

Please take a few seconds to vote! – There’s only a few days left and it’d fucking rock to win the competition :)

You can get the full song here :)

Numerous and sexual thanks in advance! :D

Christmas update

Posted December 11th, 2010 22:18 by Jason

Ho ho ho – we’ve been very busy over the last month.

New drummer

We’ve found ourselves a new drummer to replace Phil, who was last seen heading West humming the Hockey Night in Canada theme tune in a French accent.

Michelle joins us from the wilds of Slovakia and will soon be bursting eardrums at a venue near you.

Gigs

Speaking pf which, we are currently booking gigs! Please contact us if you are a promoter who would like us to make some noise at your event.

So far, we’ve confirmed dates supporting Project Pitchfork on Saturday 15th January at the Islington Academy in London. We’re also delighted to have been invited to play the DV8 Festival in York over the weekend of 21st-24th July. We will have further info on tickets for the Academy gig very soon.
